Out with the Old, In with the New

2015 in review

We are thrilled to tell you that we have had over %50 increase in library participation this year in our community programming. The number of books read in our community rose by 3%. Summer reading in 2015 proved to residents that our students are reading more that our adults, even as the older generation grumbles about how kids don’t read anymore. Our neighborhood is setting the best of examples across the board and that is reflected in the statistics and images that have accumulated throughout the year.

Coming Soon: New Website, Catalog & Logo

The Otto Bruyns Public Library of Northfield is thrilled to wish you the best and brightest in the coming New Year. The shifting dynamic within the library has meant that more and more of our members are reaching us through our website, online catalog and Facebook Page. It is for this reason, we are in the process of getting a digital face-lift. At the end of February, the library will unveil a freshly designed website, new library catalog and a brand new Logo to represent the Otto Bruyns Public Library of Northfield. The Library Catalog will be using an Open Source software called Koha and will be hosted free of charge on a State Library Server. We’re thrilled to be taking advantage of government programs to be using your tax dollars so wisely. The website will be an updated version of the open-source software currently used for the website, Joomla. The Logo will be coming from one of our talented library members, whoever can best capture the energy and essence of our dynamic services here at the library. It’s going to be a great year. We’ll be maintaining the hometown library you love while giving residents of all ages the edge to engage in our ever evolving technological society. We’ll continue to mix the best of the old with the best of the new and provide services that meet the needs of our community on a holistic level.
